Bisimoto Engineering is known worldwide for awe-inspiring street, show and race vehicles. With no fear of the unknown, Bisimoto is always on the cutting edge of automotive technology. The Bisimoto 2014 Honda Odyssey was no exception with a turbocharged, fully built factory-based J35 V-6 powerplant that produces a remarkable 1,029 horsepower. It embraces the “Power Van” vision: a street friendly powerful, reliable, family oriented, concept chassis. This family-friendly vehicle includes creature comforts such as air conditioning, reverse camera, side turn cameras, push button start and CAN-BUS protocol.
The 6-speed manual conversion was meticulously crafted on the Odyssey: pedal assembly, shifter mechanism and the desire to make it all look like factory issue. Even on 91 pump gasoline, the van makes 600 horsepower at 16 psi. At full boost (41psi), the engine produces 1029 horsepower running on ethanol fuel. A key element of its safety and drivability is in the "boost per gear" protocol. At lower speeds and gears, horsepower and boost pressures are electronically limited, and gradually increase as vehicle speeds rise. The main goal of this project was to prove that team Bisimoto has the talent to make any car fun … even a minivan.
It is also important to note that the van was also a “proof of concept” vehicle: as engineers, Bisimoto could create projects that are unique and reliable. The typical Bisimoto client is one who craves something different. The vehicle was launched by American Honda at the 2013 SEMA automotive convention in Las Vegas. Due to its worldwide media reception and popularity, it was showcased in the Top Gear television show, Spike Feresten's Car Matchmaker TV show, and Matt Farah's Drive TV. Reviews were superb.
Tanner Faust of Top gear proclaimed, "Wow, that van is fast." Rutledge Wood, also of Top Gear fame, also proclaimed, "This is the most fun I've ever had." Feresten of Seinfeld fame shared, "This thing rivals supercars." Farah exclaimed, "Driving this makes me feel like I'm in the Monaco Grand Prix … and I'm in a minivan!" Other media coverage included articles by SuperStreet, SpeedHunters, USA Today, The New York Times, Car and Driver, Road and Track, as well as DSport. Recently Mattel agreed to develop a Hot Wheels toy replica of the Bisimoto Odyssey. It is also the only non-factory performance built car to stay on display inside American Honda's Corporate office in Torrance, California.
This minivan is the most powerful on the planet, one that has developed a strong cult following.
