The Honda NSX remains a legendary car in automotive history, representing Honda's commitment to innovation, engineering excellence, and driver-focused design. Introduced as a mid-engine sports car, the NSX was Honda's answer to the European supercar elite, blending exotic car performance with the reliability and usability Honda was known for. The NSX's development was heavily influenced by motorsport expertise, with input from none other than Formula One legend Ayrton Senna. His guidance helped fine-tune the chassis and handling, ensuring the car delivered exceptional driving dynamics.
The car's aluminium monocoque chassis and body panels were groundbreaking for the era, offering significant weight savings without compromising structural rigidity. Under the bonnet, the NSX featured a 3.0 litre DOHC V6 engine equipped with Honda's innovative VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) technology. This engine produced 270 horsepower, enabling a 0-60 mph time of around 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph.The NSX was equally notable for its refined and practical interior. Unlike many supercars of its time, it prioritised driver comfort and visibility.
The ergonomically designed cockpit featured leather seats, a clear analogue instrument cluster, and air conditioning, making it a delight for daily use. Honda also focused on aerodynamics, ensuring the NSX achieved minimal drag while maintaining stability at high speeds.
This Honda has been recently imported from Japan and is now UK registered and is supplied with a V5 registration document. This example could well be the automatic transmission car driven by Aryton Senna at the Press launch at the Suzuka circuit in 1991. It is known he drove 12 cars on the day, one was grey with an automatic gearbox. There were only three cars in this colour made in 1991, giving this a 33% chance it was the one driven by Brazil’s finest driver. A genuine Senna signed plaque has been added to the dashboard and a replica 1991 Senna helmet is also supplied. Notwithstanding the fact this car could have a very interesting history, it is a very nice example.
To be expected of such a well-built car, the engine runs well and this NSX is reported to drive with no known faults. An interesting history folder accompanies A25 NSX and the car is MoT’d until December 2025. By blending cutting-edge technology, impressive performance, and real-world usability, the 1991 Honda NSX carved a unique niche in the sports car world. It redefined expectations for supercars, proving that performance and reliability could co-exist without compromise.
