This factory four-wheel-drive custom 1962 GMC Carryall built by Adams Customs in Arizona underwent a complete frame-off, nut-and-bolt restoration. Power comes from a brand-new GM Connect & Cruise 430hp 6.2-liter LS3 engine backed by a brand-new 6L80E 6-speed automatic transmission and a rebuilt NP205 transfer case. The engine features an all-new Holley mid-mount serpentine front runner accessory drive and hidden coil packs beneath GMC-scripted valve covers. The engine bay has been completely shaved and refined, and the wiring has been hidden. This SUV has been fitted with a brand-new Borgeson quick-ratio power steering box.
A brand-new aluminum radiator has been used, along with electric fans, custom-built polished stainless radiator tubes and a painted air intake. The gas tank is a Boyd Welding aluminum tank and was upgraded with a custom side-fill port. This SUV features a dual 3-inch Borla exhaust with stainless mandrel-bent, TIG-welded piping and short-tube headers. An all-new Wilwood master cylinder and hydro-boost system power the 4-wheel disc brakes. This Carryall sits on a set of 17-inch KMC Riot beadlock wheels wrapped in 33-inch BFGoodrich tires. The Gloss Black powder-coated chassis has been upgraded with new stainless-steel brake lines, fuel lines and body bushings.
This SUV sits on new factory-arched leaf springs paired with Bilstein shocks. Both the front and rear axles have been painted and equipped with disc brakes and new differential covers. This Carryall has been taken down to bare metal and completely reworked, including refining the door gaps for a high-end seamless fit and finish, and has been completely painted from top to bottom with Sherwin-Williams basecoat, clearcoat in tan and accented by Linen White. All-new factory clear glass and rubber have been installed throughout. All four side windows were rebuilt, including their factory latches. All the chrome pieces, including a period-correct roof rack, were rechromed.
The period-correct truck trim was retrofitted to the sides of this Carryall. The door latches were replaced with modern bear claw latches and reworked for soft-closing functionality. Both the hood and back hatch hinges were upgraded to gas struts for precision fit and finish. Inside, the cab has been Raptor-lined and sound-deadened before the installation of custom Apex Ultra square-weave carpet edged in leather, and matching floor mats were also created. The fully custom interior features all three rows of factory seats upgraded with modern bolstered foam and wrapped in tan Apex Auto Leather with Relicate plaid inserts. The dash is equipped with a brand-new set of Dakota Digital gauges.
The stereo is powered by a Classic Car Stereo system complemented by leather-wrapped kick panels. Beneath the dash, a brand-new 21-circuit wiring harness integrates with the GM fuse block. The interior is kept cool with a new Gen 5 Vintage Air system. A custom under-dash panel was fabricated to house four billet vents. The steering column was replaced with an Ididit column paired with a new 15-inch original-style steering wheel painted to match. This build was featured at the 2024 SEMA Battle of the Builders, earning a Top 40 overall and Top 10 finish in the 4-Wheel and Off-Road category.
