This four-wheel-drive 1978 Ford F150 Ranger Lariat pickup is a highly original, unmodified, highly optioned and well-preserved example. It is powered by the original drivetrain, including the 351ci 8-cylinder engine mated to the 3-speed automatic transmission. It is finished in the original two-tone exterior paint and features factory air conditioning, along with all-original wheels and spare tire. This F150 was ordered new in 1977 and remained with its original owner for over 40 years as a meticulously cared for vehicle.
The pickup features numerous factory options and period-correct dealer-installed accessories, including running boards, a hood latch pull/lock, electro-pneumatic horns, a hood ornament, a CB radio, a Reese tow bar package, upgraded tow mirrors, an extra high-capacity transmission cooler, a Midland CB radio, a Truck Caddy, and a locking gas cap. Rust protection was applied via Rusty Jones on September 1, 1978. The original owner customized the truck by ordering matching 1978 Bronco bucket seats and a console, which were installed at the dealership upon delivery. The pickup retains its original dual front shocks and original wheels.
Sold to a second owner in 2019, a lifelong neighbor of the original owner who was familiar with the pickup's history, it is now offered by the third owner, who acquired it in late 2024. The sale includes the original bench seat. 37,170 miles (title reads exempt).
