Shelby has a lengthy history in fine tuning Fords and turning them into world-class performance cars, and the F-150 Shelby Super Snake Pickup is an astonishing testament to its skill. The standard Ford 5.0L V-8 engine gets a supercharger, performance air intake, heat exchanger, billet throttle body and a Borla exhaust system to conjure up an astonishing 770 HP. To keep it all in check, Shelby massages the chassis with its own suspension design, including adjustable upper control arms, front coilovers, adjustable rear sway bars and Baer 6-piston brakes with slotted rotors and red calipers set behind Carroll Shelby 22-inch alloy wheels.
The beastly 5.0L is backed by an automatic transmission, and the end result is a pickup delivering 0-60 MPH times in the mid 3-second range. Interestingly, in various media tests and comparisons, the F-150 Super Snake had only been beaten by one other “similar” vehicle—a Lamborghini Urus. Of course, the Urus cost roughly $100,000 more than the Super Snake and its advantage lies clearly in the launch control mechanism; many agree that if Shelby would employ launch control on the F-150 Super Snake, it would more than likely match the Urus.
A glance at the body will reveal various changes between the standard F-150 and the Super Snake, such as a custom grille and front bumper, a front splitter and a functional ram air hood. Inside, Shelby treats the Super Snakes to a custom leather interior package with specialized upholstery, Suedeskin inserts and touches of carbon fiber here and there. Of course, it’s also equipped with air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo system and various other modern accoutrements, altogether creating a remarkable GT pickup. This F-150 Super Snake is CSM 20STS0151, and it’s finished in gray with blue stripes and a black interior. It’s a fantastic blend of practicality, performance, rarity and exclusivity.
