Roush Racing Chassis No. RRCT28 boasts special stardom, as it was one of the four vehicles used in the Discovery Channel’s “Roush Racing: Driver X” broadcast series. The show offered a behind-the-scenes look at Roush’s driver selection process, with a competition that pitted 25 circle-track drivers against each other, all vying for a spot to become the newest driver on Roush Racing’s Craftsman Truck Series team. The show’s winner, Erik Darnell, drove this very truck in the final portion of the competition, where he beat David Ragan in a 20-lap race. Retired from active race duty prior to filming the series, this F-150 had previously raced at both Martinsville Speedway and Darlington Raceway.
A Roush Yates 358 CI V-8 engine with MSD ignition backed by a 4-speed manual transmission makes up the driveline. The car is still dressed in its familiar blue, black and silver No. 6 Discovery Channel livery. A ButlerBuilt seat, Willans racing harness, AutoMeter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite gauges and Memory tachometer, roll cage, and fire suppression system are inside. The shining star rolls on 15-inch black race wheels with Goodyear Eagle radial race tires.
