For the 1994-97 Cup Series seasons, The Family Channel worked with Roush Racing in sponsoring the No. 16 Ford in red, white and blue American flag-inspired livery driven by Ted Musgrave. Celebrating and promoting the relationship, Roush built this 1990 Ford F-150 Sport Truck. The F-150 was also built to perform with a heavily modified chassis, a 525/450 HP big-block V-8 engine and an E40D revised calibration automatic transmission.
The truck was built with TFS aluminum heads, Crane high-rate valve springs, Crane rocker arms, a tuned-runner fuel injection manifold with high-flow injectors, and a high-rate fuel pump, and uses stainless steel high-flow headers and a high-efficiency dual exhaust system with an oversized high-flow catalytic converter. The red cloth interior is fitted with sport bucket seats, Simpson safety harnesses, a Grant three-spoke steering wheel, and a roll cage, but the racing edge is tempered by air conditioning, an AM/FM/cassette stereo system, power windows and power locks. The chassis is set with dropped I-beams, revised springs and shocks, an underslung axle and 4-wheel disc brakes.
