The result of a full frame-off build, this 1979 Ford F150 Pickup Custom was fitted with a 5.0L Coyote V-8 engine with new headers, a new alternator and an automatic transmission, with 4-wheel drive controlled by a pushbutton transfer case. A new radiator has been installed to help keep things cool. Rolling on 15-inch Pacer wheels with knobby 33-inch tires, the F150 has been fitted with new sheet metal and finished in Charcoal Grey, while a new spray-in bed liner coats the interior of the box and the top edges of the bed walls and tailgate.
The chassis is set with front disc brakes, new crossmembers and a new fuel tank, with power steering making the pickup easier to negotiate in tight spaces. A new, black TMI seat has been installed with a center console and new interior trim, while plush carpeting lines the floors. Equipped with Vintage Air, the F150 features a vintage Bluetooth stereo system with speakers and an amplifier. Known as the Dentside by F-Series fanatics, the 1973 F-Series pickup spanned through 1979, with 1980 ushering in the modernly styled Bullnose design.
The Dentsides succeeded the Bumpsides of 1967-1972 and built on their chassis with larger bodies, increased engine sizes and options, a gas tank relocated outside of the cab, and much more. Possibly the biggest marketing possibilities came in 1975 with the new Super Cab, a two-door pickup with an extension of the cab that provided additional space behind the front seats for two to three passengers or equipment. By 1977, the Dentside surpassed Chevrolet in overall sales. The dramatic, clamshell hood and split grille provided a tremendous backdrop for some exciting special editions, and Ford delivered.
