Launched for 2004, Ferrari’s new F430 ushered in a stunning array of performance-maximizing aerodynamic breakthroughs by Pininfarina, including larger air intakes to the front and sides, a redesigned tail section and rear air diffuser, plus new upswept headlamps. While visually subtle, these updates were the products of leading-edge aerodynamic breakthroughs used by Ferrari’s F1 racing team. A classic case of racing improving road cars, these changes improved fuel efficiency while reducing aerodynamic drag and lift. The light-alloy DOHC 4,308cc V-8 engine of the F430 was all new, compact and lightweight, developing 490 HP and explosively propelling the car to over 193 mph.
An unqualified tour de force of design and engineering prowess, the F430 incorporated such new technical features as an electronic differential (E-Diff), plus the now-familiar steering wheel-mounted rotary switch, or “manettino,” as the F1 drivers called it, allowing five possible drive modes. A 6-speed Magneti Marelli F1 paddle-shift gearbox delivers lightning-quick gear changes. Other technical features include 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes and the Bosch 5.3 ABS/ASR system. Iconically finished in Red, this 2007 Ferrari F430 is surprisingly luxurious to match its huge performance envelope.
Among its many features are power Daytona-style seats or “chairs,” plus an AM/FM stereo with CD changer, automatic climate control, power windows, and heated outside mirrors. Directional control is via power rack-and-pinion steering. A tuned free-flow exhaust system delivers an amazing soundtrack while Xenon headlights and front and rear parking sensors heighten usability. Red brake calipers and alloy wheels finish it off. A clear bra protects the paint finish and accompanying items include a car cover, original tool kit and tire compressor.
