The special Ram SRT-10 VCA Edition pickup truck is a rare find, as there were just 50 released, and they were initially offered only to Viper Club of America members through a special purchase program. Today, the odometer of this example reads 29,448 miles, and it’s numbered 29 of the 50 units produced. to many, the SRT-10 pickup truck was one of the most outrageous packages Daimler Chrysler released during the first decade of this century, with this considered the most desirable of those offerings.
Setting truck-design closed-course records at Daytona and pacing the Craftsman Truck race in 2004, these monsters came with the reworked 8.3L V-10 engine, which features multiport fuel injection and carefully developed internal pieces resulting in a 500 HP rating for this model. Nonetheless, air conditioning and cruise control are still part of the luxury it features. Here, the intake was signed by none other than Chrysler Group leader Wolfgang Bernhard.
Behind the mill is a Borg Warner T56 6-speed manual transmission equipped with a factory Hurst shifter, and the vehicle also features 4-wheel power disc brakes with red calipers, independent front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, and the classic Dana 60 differential at the rear. The paint was also exclusive, as these were the only SRT10 Rams to ever come in Viper Electric Blue, featuring white stripes plus special aero-theme body panels and a factory rear wing. Inside are Dark Slate Gray leather and suede seats with SRT-10 logos, silver door and dash trim, push button start, a special serialized plaque and the premium Infinity sound system with a subwoofer and a six-CD changer.
The white-faced gauges in the dash are easy to read, and there are power windows and locks and metal pedals as well. The hood features a scoop with “Viper Powered” emblems, and special VCA graphics were put on the rear quarter panels. Delivered to their new owners right at Daytona during Speed Weeks and with a copy of the original invoice included, this one is beast-mode in blue.
