The name Scat Pack resonated back in the late 1960s as a marketing angle that Dodge had come up with to distinguish its performance models from more standard fare. It’s fitting that the title was rightfully applied again in the 21st century on cars like this 2023 Dodge Charger, which also has the mechanical capability to match the moniker. This car, now showing a mere 154 miles, is also representing the end of this modern era, as these special Last Call cars are being phased out after 2023 following a number of successful model seasons. The 6.4L Hemi V-8 engine is the power here, a normally aspirated Gen3 design that is the true heir of the Scat Pack heritage.
The powerplant is refined for horsepower in ways only dreamed of back then, however, with excellent highway manners, accessories like air conditioning and variable valve timing. An 8-speed 8HP70 automatic transmission features a special torque converter, and overdrive gearing is installed behind it, while the optional Dynamics package here added the bigger wheels and tires, All-Speed Traction Control, Adaptive Damping Suspension, 6-piston Brembo front brakes and a tell-tale flat-bottom steering wheel inside. The exterior is in Sinamon Stick red, with the added Satin Black hood, roof and trunk, but without the widebody fenders.
The power sunroof covers the black interior with its premium Scat Pack-logo Nappa leather and Alcantara bucket seats. The Plus group is here with its added driver assist features, as is the Navigation package with the 8.4-inch screen, Harmon Kardon AM/FM stereo with SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Further outside trim includes the scooped hood, 392 and Scat Pack vehicle identification, dual exhaust exits and 20×9.5-inch, black, knurled alloy wheels and incredibly aggressive 275-40ZR20 tires. Under the hood is the final touch: the cowl tag denoting this is a Last Call edition.
With manufacturing having ceased, this Charger will always be a purebred, still harkening to both eras when the term Scat Pack meant Mopar muscle.
