It’s a relatively common sight for aftermarket companies to take muscle cars and fit them with insane performance that will put most supercars to shame. When a manufacturer like Dodge takes that duty upon itself, that’s when you get something truly special. In the last model year of the seventh-generation Challenger, Dodge blessed the automotive world with the SRT Demon 170. Right from the factory floor, you could get a Challenger with a supercharged 6.2L Hemi V-8 that made 1,025 HP and 945 lb-ft of torque. The SRT Demon 170 boasts the highest launch force of any production car, achieving skin-peeling g-forces of 2.004 g.
All of that otherworldly power nets a 1.66-second 0-60 MPH time and a quarter-mile time of 8.91 seconds, getting it banned from the NHRA for setting a sub-9-second quarter mile without a roll cage or parachute. This particular example is Demon No. 1153, equipped with both the $20,466 SRT Demon 170 and $14,605 SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody packages, and it shows a mere 82 miles on the odometer. The exterior is finished in the speedy shade of TorRed, with the 170 satin graphic on the Air Grabber hood and a fender badge that reminds passersby they’re in the presence of a menacing machine.
The black leather interior serves as a contrast to the fiery red on the outside and features sound insulation delete, carbon fiber accents, ventilated Alcantara and Laguna seats, a suede headliner and door panels, Demonic Red seatbelts, the Uconnect 8.4-inch infotainment screen and a Harman Kardon 18-speaker system with a GreenEdge amplifier. Special go-fast parts that allow you to take full advantage of the Demon 170’s four-digit horsepower figures include a transbrake, a conical cold air intake, active damping suspension and Dodge’s After Run Chiller, a system that continues cooling the engine after it’s been shut off to prepare it for your next drag strip run.
Dodge only built 3,000 units for the U.S. market and 300 for Canada, and with only 82 miles on the odometer and desirable optional equipment, this Demon is ready to be the talk of a drag strip near you.
