Elegance, performance and a touch of automotive nostalgia make this 2005 Chrysler 300C Hurst Edition from the Wayne Schmeeckle Collection a very attractive choice for fans of Chrysler’s new-generation “letter car.” Designed in conjunction with Chrysler and the Hurst division of Mr. Gasket, the 2005 Chrysler 300C Hurst Edition paid homage to the return of the Hemi engine in a Chrysler automobile for the first time since 1971, in the process recalling the 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst. The 300C Hurst Edition was designed to showcase and build on the power of the new Hemi engine and the refinement of the 300C that made it worthy of the name.
The 5.7L Hemi V-8 engine at the heart of the 300C was upgraded with a number of performance enhancements, including a Kenne Bell Optimizer II engine-management system and Corsa Performance cat-back stainless-steel exhaust system to raise output to north of 400 HP. Eibach lowering springs, 2-inch drop spindles and Hotchkis Performance front and rear sway bars contributed to improving the 300C’s well-engineered ride. Toyo Proxes S/T high-performance directional tires on two-piece Oasis forged-and-polished aluminum wheels maximize the benefits of the suspension mods, resulting in superbly balanced handling.
Stainless Steel Brakes Corporation supplied the stainless lines, Tri-Power 3-piston calipers and drilled-and-slotted rotors that replace the stock brake system, ensuring that the 300C Hurst Edition’s stopping power is more than equal to the task when it comes time to haul down from speed. The Hurst Edition’s elegant paint treatment recalls that of the 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst with its House of Kolor combination of Hurst Gold Pearl accents over White Pearl, and the tasteful diamond-tufted handcrafted leather interior complements the exterior theme with embroidered Hurst logos.
A Boston Acoustics audio system with subwoofer was added, and naturally, a Hurst floor shifter controls the 5-speed automatic transmission. Preserved in pristine condition with 2,060 original miles, this 300C Hurst Edition is a brilliantly stylish tribute to the return of the Hemi-powered luxury-performance automobile.
