The Chevrolet Suburban is the longest continually used automobile model nameplate in production, starting in 1934 for the 1935 U.S. model year, and it has traditionally been one of General Motors’ most profitable vehicles. The sixth-generation Suburban had a few upgrades from the previous generation, including a redesigned and more compact rear air conditioning unit, disc brakes and a single driver-side door while the passenger side had two doors for passenger access. This generation also coincided with the rapid growth of the recreational vehicle market. The year 1967 saw approximately 6,200 vehicles sold, while 1972 sales rose to 27,000 units.
This 1972 Chevrolet Suburban has been restored and is fitted with the Custom Deluxe trim package. The Custom Deluxe trim package includes wood-grain body-side trim, polished metal windshield and rear window trim, marker lights and badging on the exterior, and full-depth foam seats with embossed vinyl seats, matching carpets, wood-grain door panels, dome lights and a cigar lighter featured in the interior of the Suburban. The blue exterior is in great condition and features plenty of chrome, including the front and rear bumpers, grille surround and 20-inch custom wheels.
The bright blue interior has color-matching carpets, factory air conditioning with the rare dual air conditioning option, factory tach and gauges, bucket seats with a console, and a rosewood steering wheel. The Suburban can credit its cargo capacity and on-road capabilities for a lot of its success. Power options include power steering and power brakes along with a tow package and brake box. Under the hood, you will find a 350 CI V-8 engine topped with a 4-barrel carburetor and mated to an automatic transmission controlled by a column-mounted shifter. This desirable three-door Suburban is a great example of a hugely successful lineage combined with some modern styling.
