Chevrolet touted its 1963 model lineup as being as smooth-riding as a jet and clean cut as a jewel, and this Impala SS convertible was the supersonic diamond of the full-size fleet. A frame-off restoration returned the Impala series Super Sport to its winning combination of small-block 4-speed performance, luxury and style. The body was stripped down to bare metal and refinished in white. Brushed and polished aluminum and chrome trim topped with Super Sport badging accent sleek lines and signature six-across tail lamps. The detailed engine bay showcases a rebuilt 327 CI V-8 engine and 4-speed manual transmission power team.
Turbo-Fire small-block engines were factory-equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust for maximum performance and a more favorable weight-to-output ratio than their big-block brothers. Convertibles rolled off the line with heavy-duty coil springs for improved handling and that jet-smooth ride. Power steering and power brakes team up here for near-effortless road control. Lowering the power-operated white convertible top unveils a spacious aqua interior with leather-grained vinyl bucket seats and a center shift console with engine-turned insert.
Super Sport trim adds distinction to the long list of standard features, including an electric clock, finger-tip door releases and deep-twist loop carpeting. The Impala waits for its next owner to row through the gears and push the tachometer needle to the redline for an authentic three-pedal Super Sport experience.
