While “America's Sports Car” started its life as a stylish but relatively tame boulevardier, it was relentlessly developed and substantially revised in both stylistic and mechanical terms soon after its debut. Beginning with the addition of Ed Cole’s compact, durable and efficient “small-block” V-8 in 1955, the Corvette was quickly guided by Zora Arkus-Duntov and his engineering team into nothing short of a track-tuned high-performance machine by 1960, with a sharper performance orientation than ever before.

New anti-sway bars and an aluminum clutch vastly improved the handling and performance capabilities of Chevrolet's roadster. Five small-block V-8s ranged from 230 to 315 bhp in 1960, and available transmissions included a two-speed Powerglide automatic and a four-speed manual unit. Stylistically, the 1958-1960 Corvette represents the second-to-last iteration of the inaugural C1 Corvette platform, and it features the most intricate chrome detailing ever offered, along with numerous interior upgrades.

This California-based 1960 Corvette is offered from a private collection and was treated to a complete, body-off-frame restoration that was completed between 1992 and 1995, with fewer than 750 miles driven ever since. In testament to the high quality of its restoration, the Corvette achieved NCRS Top Flight honors in its previous ownership in 1999 with 94.1 points. It was judged in its current ownership in 2001 again, receiving 96.1 points out of 100. Desirable features include a 270/283 “Dual Quad” V-8, a T-10 aluminum-case four-speed transmission, a Positraction rear axle, a Wonderbar AM radio, white convertible top and a hard top.
