This highly original 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 retains its original matching-numbers drivetrain and shows only 385 miles on the odometer, its wonderful overall condition commensurate with its ultra-low mileage reading. It is factory equipped with the optional L69 high-output 5.0L engine, a significant powertrain design that was aimed at two primary objectives: high performance and fuel economy. Although these appeared to be both unattainable as well as mutually exclusive, Chevrolet engineers were successful in both arenas.
The high performance was obtained with a higher 9.5:1 compression ratio, Crossfire dual throttle body fuel injection, a recontoured camshaft profile sourced from the Corvette, an aluminum intake manifold, a twin-snorkel cold air intake and air cleaner unit, a redesigned catalytic converter unit and a low-restriction 2.75-inch dual exhaust system, all of which contributed to vastly improved acceleration and engine responsiveness. Respectable fuel economy was also realized with an EPA-rated 17 MPG city and 27 MPG highway.
This beautiful 1984 Camaro Z28 is equipped with the rare LS Contour interior trim package, which includes red cloth velour seats and door panels with prominent Camaro callouts printed in the fabric. The red interior is color keyed to the red exterior accent striping located just above the side rocker panels that follow the front and rear aprons. It is additionally optioned with an automatic transmission, a Delco AM/FM cassette with EQ stereo, air conditioning, a sport steering wheel on a tilt steering wheel column, power windows, power door locks and a rear storage cover.
It retains its original black exterior finish and original Goodyear Eagle GT tires, which are mounted on five-spoke aluminum wheels. This 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 comes complete with the factory-issued driver’s manual and a dealer brochure.
