In November 2023, this 1970 Chevrolet Blazer emerged from a comprehensive restoration finished in blue and powered by a new 525 HP 376 CI LS V-8 engine and new 4L70 automatic transmission. The chassis has been fitted with a 4-inch Rough Country lift and recently rebuilt front and rear axles, and it features Baer 6-piston front disc brakes and a rear disc brake conversion with a Wilwood master cylinder and Hydroboost conversion. Rolling on new 35-inch tires with polished wheels, the overall stance is aggressive. Custom AMP Research steps help ingress and egress to the custom TMI interior.
The tan leather seating features heated seats, the flooring is finished in a rough texture material for grip and protection, and the blue paint flows over onto the metal surfaces. Air conditioning keeps things cool while a custom stereo system provides the entertainment. The body boasts a number of custom touches; many are subtle, like the new glass, and some are a little more pronounced, like the shaved and hidden fuel filler and shaved holes for the removable hardtop. The Blazer is also equipped with KC headlights, electric windows, electric locks with an alarm, and a remote starting system.
Chevrolet introduced the Blazer for 1969 as an alternative to the more spartan Jeep-styled personal off-road vehicles. The idea was to offer customers a high-quality vehicle that could go pretty much anywhere while affording creature comforts and amenities, allowing the vehicle to be used daily anywhere. Its wider and longer wheelbase allowed it a civilized ride on and off road, while its larger body allowed for a more commodious interior that provided additional passenger elbow room. Sales were strong enough for Ford and Chrysler to take note, with Dodge and Plymouth both introducing the Ram Charger and Trail Duster for 1974 and Ford introducing an all-new, larger Bronco for 1978.
