The subject of a body-off-frame restoration, this beautiful, highly optioned 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop is an exceptional example of the breed, featuring option content one would find on a decked-out Cadillac of the era. In addition to its appreciated power steering and power brakes, the Bel Air also features factory air conditioning, a Wonderbar signal-seeking scan AM radio, power windows, a power seat, power antenna and whitewall tires with spinner wheel covers.
Under the hood is the familiar 283 CI Power Pack small-block V-8 with a single Rochester 4-barrel carburetor, and that engine is backed here by a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission for smooth and trouble-free operation. The exterior features all of the iconic design cues that made the ’57 Chevys so popular with enthusiasts, including the twin “gunsight” hood ornaments, the rear quarter panel fins and the ribbed stainless quarter panel trim. This Bel Air’s beautiful bodywork is covered in Onyx Black with bright chrome and gold-tone accents, making for a striking visual presentation.
Opening up the doors and taking a peek inside, the Bel Air features a two-tone black and silver vinyl interior with cloth seating surface inserts, bright metal inserts in the dash and gold “Bel Air” script just to the left of the clock and above the glovebox door. The equipment level on this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air combined with the coveted two-door hardtop body style makes it a rare and desirable vehicle that would make for a wonderful centerpiece of a well-curated Tri-Five or Chevrolet collection.
