Cadillac unveiled a coupe version of its highly successful CTS at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, taking the public and the motoring press completely by surprise. The positive reaction convinced Cadillac to introduce a CTS-V version of the coupe, which it introduced in 2010. The CTS-V formula remained as powerful as ever, retaining the LSA 6.2L all-aluminum supercharged V-8 adapted from the Corvette’s LS9 engine, along with a choice of 6-speed manual or paddle-shifted 6-speed automatic transmissions.
Using an Eaton Twin Vortices Series (TVS) supercharger in concert with an integrated water-to-air intercooler, the CTS-V’s LSA V-8 (the only pushrod engine in the luxury performance market) conjures 556 HP and 551 lb-ft of torque. The resulting performance is nothing short of fabulous, inspiring more than one writer to describe the CTS-V as a Corvette with luxury seating for four.
