In an interesting twist, when Cadillac introduced the CT4 to replace the ATS for 2020, it first introduced the high-performance CT4-V powered by a 2.7L/325 HP turbocharged inline 4-cylinder. Four months later, the standard CT4 debuted with a 2.0L/237 HP inline 4-cylinder or 2.7L/310 HP turbocharged inline 4-cylinder. While the CT4-V obviously had the more powerful of the three engines and was engineered with the right chassis enhancements and performance refinements, the “standard-issue” CT4s were not without their merits. They move well, are efficient, comfortable, compact and agile, easy to drive and give buyers something to think about when considering a premium sedan.
To really give performance enthusiasts something to think about, Cadillac introduced the CT4-V Blackwing, a car powered by a 3.6L/472 HP twin-turbocharged V-6 backed by either a 6-speed Tremec manual transmission or optional 10-speed automatic. Car and Driver magazine found 0-60 MPH in 4 seconds flat with the manual transmission, Cadillac claiming the automatic gearbox is even slightly quicker. Topping out in the 189 MPH range, this is by far not the Cadillac of yesteryear, but rather engineered for a more youthful clientele interested in something fresh, something that stands apart from the usual suspects.
This 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing has only cruised 227 miles from new and is fitted with the 6-speed manual transmission. Finished in Summit White, the Cadillac features massive disc brakes with red calipers. The two-tone Natural Tan and Jet Black leather interior with quilted seating inserts features the suede-microfiber, high-performance steering wheel and shifter, and the was optioned with the Carbon Fiber 1 Package, which includes a front splitter, front wheel deflectors, dive planes and rear extra aero spoiler. On top of that, this CT4-V Blackwing also boasts the Carbon Fiber 2 Package, which includes rocker moldings and extensions, as well as a rear valance diffuser inset.
Packed with modern technology including a performance data recorder and cabin air ionizer, it also features a sunroof and head-up display.
