To end the E92-generation M3 with a bang, BMW decided to take the fight to Porsche’s 911 GT3 RS and build a no-holds-barred, track-ready iteration of the M3. Dubbed the M3 GTS, this was the most radical, street-legal iteration of the M3 that BMW ever produced, even more so than the E46 CSL. Adding an extra 30 bhp and 30 lb-ft of torque to the engine for a total of 444 bhp and 325 lb-ft, the V-8’s power is channelled through BMW’s seven-speed DCT gearbox. Seventy-five kilograms of weight were shed from the standard M3 by removing the rear seats, utilising Perspex side and rear glass, fitting lightweight interior door panels, and a lighter centre console. With a 0–100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds, the M3 GTS charges to a top speed of 305 km/h.
Delivered new to Germany, the car spent one month there before moving to France, where it has remained ever since. The eighth of a total of 135 M3 GTSs built, it is resplendent in its Fire Orange paintwork, the most recognisable colour for the M3 GTS. The car is outfitted with the seldom-seen air conditioning and the BMW Professional Radio, making the car much more comfortable to drive and enjoy over long distances. Driven just 6,000 km from new—and never on the track—it is offered with a recent service and presents wonderfully throughout. This would be a joy on the road or the track, and even in between!
Pour terminer en beauté la production de la M3-E92, BMW décida de se frotter à la Porsche 911 GT3 RS en construisant une version spéciale de la M3, sans compromis et prête à courir. Baptisée M3 GTS, c'était parmi les M3 la version homologuée route la plus extrême que BMW eût jamais produite, plus extrême encore que la E46 CSL. Avec un gain de 30 chevaux et 41 Nm, son V8 atteignait 444 chevaux et 442 Nm ; il était accouplé à la boîte DCT 7 rapports de BMW. Par apport à la M3 standard, un gain de 75 kg avait été obtenu en retirant les sièges arrière, en utilisant du Perspex pour la lunette arrière et les vitres latérales et en adoptant des panneaux de portes et une console centrale allégés. La M3 GTS atteignait une vitesse maximale de 305 km/h, pour un 0 à 100 km/h en 4,4 secondes.
Cette voiture fut livrée neuve en Allemagne et y demeura un mois avant de venir en France, où elle est restée depuis. Cette M3 GTS est le huitième exemplaire d'une série de 135 ; elle est d'un magnifique orange feu, qui est la couleur la plus caractéristique pour cette série. Elle est équipée d'options rares, l'air conditionné et un autoradio BMW Professional, ce qui la rend beaucoup plus confortable et agréable sur de longs parcours. Elle n'a effectué que 6 000 km et n'a jamais été utilisée sur circuit. Elle a bénéficié d'un entretien récent et est magnifique à tous égards. Elle ravira son utilisateur tant sur route que sur circuit, et même de l'un à l'autre !
