The 2002 BMW M Coupe is essentially an M Convertible with a permanent hard top, but with the enthusiast driver in mind it is made stiffer for better handling. Notable is the fact that 2002 was the final year of production for the M Coupe and this model just happens to have an upgraded engine that is highly sought after by BMW enthusiasts. This M Coupe is finished in a very attractive Imola Red exterior and under the hood features BMW’s evergreen inline-6 from the M Division. The potent engine means this little rocket is a screamer and embarrasses many high-powered cars off the line. Most of BMW’s M Coupes featured sunroofs, but this example features the exclusive hard top profile.
This example is one of only two M Coupes produced from the factory in that configuration, making it a desirable example of the breed. The interior black and grey leather has a reserved German appeal. The odometer shows only 21,000 original miles and this M Coupe has been in the collection of a climate-controlled private museum for more than 10 years. The intent of the M Coupe is simple: to build a great driver’s car. What you give up in open-top motoring by doing away with the convertible, you gain in chassis rigidity and superlative handling. An added benefit is that you also get a lot more practicality than in the convertible version of this car.
