Finished in Black Velvet Metallic, the imposing presence of this Bentley Flying Spur is akin, perhaps, to a blending of Darth Vader and a stealth bomber. However, that grand stature is tempered by an aristocratic air of restrained refinement and subtlety, a complex and rare combination in the world today. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0L/521 HP V-8 engine and an automatic transmission, the all-wheel drive Flying Spur shows just 18,000 miles on the odometer.
The black-and-white interior features quilted leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, navigation, dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, carbon fiber weave surfaces, contrasted stitching and piping and a seemingly infinite number of other amenities and details. Rolling on 21-inch black wheels with machined edges, a rearview camera helps drivers maneuver tight spaces. Introduced in 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Bentley Flying Spur was the perfect yin to the Bentley Continental GT’s yang. While the GT offered customers the chance to buy a properly luxurious, high-performance two-door coupe, the Flying Spur broadened the market with an additional two doors.
With similarly spectacular performance to the GT, it was only available with the 12-cylinder engine. The Flying Spur entered its second generation in 2013, this time offering customers the option of either a V-8 or the W-12 used in the original generation. Lighter, the V-8 engine offered a noticeable handling improvement over the 12-cylinder engine, but of course, lacked a bit of punch. Successful nevertheless, Bentley introduced a third-generation Flying Spur in 2019, which remains in production today. All Flying Spurs are capable of blisteringly quick 0-60 MPH sprints and top speeds in the neighborhood of 200 MPH.
