The Bentley brand has always delivered stately elegance combined with smooth power delivery and impeccable road manners. This beautiful 1999 Bentley Arnage has less than 6,000 original miles and presents in splendid condition. The interior appointments are exactly what is expected in a Bentley: premium-grade black Connolly leather front and rear seating with deviating red piping and matching Wilton wool carpeting, contrasted with end-matched burled-walnut fitments on the dashboard, door panels, center console and rear picnic tables. The rich black exterior is equally impressive, accented with discreet chrome trim and 17-inch chrome wheels.
The car comes well equipped with creature-comfort amenities such as dual-zone air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, power seats and a premium audio system. First introduced in 1998, the new-generation Bentley Arnage was a radical departure from its predecessor, the Bentley Brooklands Turbo R. Now under German ownership, the bodies were assembled per tradition in Crewe, England. However, the engines were no longer made in-house but instead sourced from BMW. A new 4.4L V-8 replaced the outgoing large-displacement 6.75L V-8.
Although smaller in displacement, the new 4.4L engine featured twin turbochargers, dual overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and an advanced Bosch engine-management technology. Engineered and tuned by Cosworth, it produced 350 HP and produced a healthy 420 lb-ft of torque enabling the 5,000-pound Bentley to motor with ease. Also new to the Arnage was the introduction of the 5-speed automatic transmission, enhancing the acceleration and cruising capability of this luxurious car. The Arnage also features power-assisted 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.
Many Bentley enthusiasts consider the 1999 Arnage as a milestone achievement, a car that seamlessly merges and combines German engineering with traditional British time-honored coachwork construction.
