This custom-finished 2010 Aston Martin DBS Volante from the Michael Fux Collection offers a superb motoring experience and has traveled only 773 miles since new. Introduced at the 2009 Geneva Auto Salon, the 2010 Aston Martin DBS Volante was the Gaydon firm’s top offering. In contrast to the two-seat DBS coupe, the Volante was targeted more at the grand-touring experience, coming with vestigial back seats as standard equipment.
Beneath the dual-vented hood is the same 5.9L/510 HP V-12 that powers the coupe, and the same advanced chassis and braking features: 4-wheel ventilated carbon-ceramic disc brakes with ABS, and all-independent suspension minded by Adaptive Damping, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Dynamic Stability Control and traction control. Introduced for 2009 was this example’s ZF-sourced 6-speed Touchtronic transmission in place of the standard 6-speed manual. The Volante’s styling was minutely adjusted to better suit the car’s fluid lines in top-down form.
The tonneau incorporates faired humps to echo the headrests, and character lines taper inward from the cockpit to meet the spoiler integrated into the decklid, gracefully decorating an otherwise broad expanse of sheet metal. The Volante’s fabric top is of superb quality and fit, and it can be raised or lowered at speeds up to 30 MPH.
Loaded with standard features that include heated power-adjustable front seats with three-position memory, full leather upholstery and a Bang & Olufson BeoSound DBS Audio system with 6-CD auto-changer and iPod connection, the Volante also includes power windows and locks, auto-dimming rearview mirror with garage-door opener, power-folding mirrors with three-position memory, trip computer, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, satellite navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. In addition to this example’s optional diamond-turned silver 20-inch wheels, it features special-order accessories installed at extra expense that render it unique.
Performed by the selling dealer, Miller Motorcars in Greenwich, Connecticut, special-order features include custom-fabricated Absynthe Green Wilton wool carpets and seat belts, carbon-fiber veneer inserts and repainted brake calipers finished to match the car’s California Sage paint.
