Introduced in 1993 to the public, the handsome new DB7 was Aston Martin's first six-cylinder model since production of the DB6 Mk. II finished in 1971. Styled by Ian Callum, its lines were evocative of earlier Aston Martin models and elements of the DB4/5/6 could be seen in the design. Arguably one of the nicest looking cars ever produced by Aston Martin, the DB7 was well received and attracted new customers worldwide with its traditional layout of the curvaceous two-door coupé body and robust six-cylinder engine. Power was supplied by an all-alloy double overhead camshaft supercharged 24 valve inline six-cylinder engine which produced 335bhp at 5750rpm.
Regarded by many as the purist modern Aston Martin, the DB7 will undoubtedly be a collectable car for years to come and is equally at home in the city or out on the open road. When the customer wanted their i6 DB7 to become something special, the car had to go the AML Works Service in Newport Pagnell for that extra touch. The Driving, Visual and Chassis Dynamics packages offered menu of enhancements for the i6 DB7 that evolved from the stillborn DB7 i6 GT.
First registered on 5th September 1997, we believe this example has the rare paint to sample metallic sand over black leather trim and is sitting on Driving Dynamics split rim alloy wheels that it was supplied with. In 2014, this example was sold to the previous vendor by Knightsbridge Cars with 60,000 miles displayed and at this time it was described by them as ‘the best available’ and quoting it had previously been owned by a well-known Blue Peter presenter. The new owner presided in Weston Super-Mare in but sadly some years later passed away and the car had remained dry stored until recently when it was sold by his estate.
Recently the car has been recommissioned and treated to a service and four new tyres ready for a new owner to enjoy the i6 DB7’s wonderful charm. Offered with V5 registration document, MoT test certificate valid until September 2026, cherished umber plate and paperwork /invoices from Aston Martin specialists, these examples are fast becoming very collectable classics and with previous celebrity ownership and a rare colourway, this is a unique opportunity for Aston Martin ownership. Interested parties should note, the engine management light is currently on however the vendor whom is a mechanic declares this is due to the battery having been disconnected and will clear after circa 30 starts and is a known foible of the early DB7
