Alfa Romeo’s rich racing heritage dates back to the early 20th century. Following the close of World War I, the company’s reliable production cars would be supplemented by competition-worthy models engineered by Vittorio Jano, lured to Alfa Romeo from Fiat. From that point, the Italian maker would return to its roots in racing with great success, winning its first Grand Prix World Championship in 1925. Alfa Romeo introduced its Jano-designed, 1752cc 6-cylinder cars in 1929. Adept on both road and racing circuits, their dual overhead-cam powerplant proved reliable and powerful, developing remarkable output from relatively small displacement.
The 6C 1750 is also significant for introducing saloon bodies manufactured in-house, along with bodies from renowned custom coachbuilders including Touring, Castagna, Zagato, Figoni and others. Three 6C 1750 models were available, starting from the SOHC Turismo with a 122-inch wheelbase to the DOHC Gran Turismo on a choice of 108 or 114-inch wheelbases, and the Grand Sport or Super Sport. Regardless of the version, the 6C 1750 remains one of the most compelling of all classic Alfa Romeo models. All told, Alfa Romeo built 2,579 examples of the 6C 1750 through 1933. Of those, very few were supercharged “GS” examples.
Bearing chassis number 10814377 and engine number 10814377 with Figoni coachwork, this 6C 1750 is the first Fifth Series Grand Sport chassis built for 1932, per 6C historian Luigi Fusi in his book “Alfa Romeo, Tutte le Vetture Dal 1910.” One of 30 chassis built for 1932, these cars are known collectively as the “Paris Alfas,” built for competition, touring and the concours events of the era. Believed to be one of 10 still in existence, this example was restored by Blakeney Motorsport in the U.K.
The original matching-numbers 1752cc DOHC inline 6-cylinder engine breathes through a single Memini dual-throat carburetor and features a Roots-type supercharger, with power delivery via a 4-speed manual gearbox. Other mechanical highlights include 4-wheel mechanically operated drum brakes, a front solid-axle suspension with semi-elliptical leaf springs, a live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs, and wire-spoke wheels mounting 5.50-18H tires. The adventurous roadster body by the renowned Figoni coachworks is finished in white with black fenders and running boards, and the Brown Old English leather bench seat interior includes Jaeger instruments and a clock.

Displayed at Salon Retromobile in Paris in 2016, this exceedingly rare, top-specification, Figoni-bodied “Paris Alfa” is documented by renowned Alfa Romeo specialist Simon Moore and accompanied at auction by an extensive history file including letters dating back to the 1960s.
