When Honda introduced Acura to the North American market in 1986, the company extensively researched the market and opened 60 new dealerships across the United States to sell and service the new brand. The new company offered just two models, the luxurious Legend sedan and the sumptuous but youthful Integra, available as a three- or five-door hatchback. Both were available with either a manual or automatic transmission, and the Legend carried the first V-6 engine Honda ever marketed, a sophisticated 2.5L that quietly nodded at things to come. For the 1987 model year, Acura introduced the Legend coupe, also debuting a new, larger V-6 engine to replace the original.
Acura proved to be an exceptionally popular vehicle line, and for 1991, an all-new Legend debuted with a larger overall body and yet another new V-6 engine, this time bored to a rather portly 3.2L. This 1991 Acura Legend Coupe is presented in highly original condition with an odometer that reads just under 38,000 miles. Fitted with an automatic transmission, it’s finished in Milano Red with a tan leather interior, the front seats of which are protected with sheepskin-style covers.
Equipped with a power tinted glass sunroof, the Legend offers electronically controlled air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power sideview mirrors, a power driver’s seat with position memory, cruise control and a Kenwood stereo head unit. The factory five-spoke alloy wheels feature dark champagne insets that play off the tan interior beautifully and home power-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes. Accompanied by the owner’s manual and window sticker, the car also features a rear spoiler that lends a little visual pop.
