Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster, 1999
Chassis No.: 1B3ER65E4XV503516 Auction: Monterey 2022 Auction date: August 20, 2022 Lot No.: F31 $62,700 | Sold • Exterior: Red • Interior: Black • Body: Roadster • 8.0L/450 HP V-10 engine • 6-speed transmission • Recent service • Odometer reads 62,415 miles • Same owner since 2003 • Power windows and locks • Factory soft top and detachable color coded custom hardtop • Detachable rear window • 200 MPH speedometer • Air conditioning • Adjustable pedals • Adjustable leather wrapped steering wheel • Tinted glass • Kenwood face off stereo with 200 watt amplifiers • Factory 18 inch polished alloy wheels • Toyo tires • Adjustable gas shocks with stabilizer bars • Limited slip differential with 3.07 gears • Must be sold to an out of state resident or licensed dealer As a pure driving machine, the Dodge Viper was built for the person who is not afraid of corners. With its 8.0L/450 HP V-10 engine purring under the hood and the 6-speed transmission skillfully keeping the engine right where the sweet spot is, a good pilot could take the RT/10 roadster package to the edge and back with no problem. This example, built at Conner Avenue back in 1999, has been recently serviced and has been with the same owner since 2003. The odometer presently reads just over 62,400 miles. The 1999 model was released in the middle of second-generation Viper production (SR II, 1996–2002) and features a number of production upgrades that arrived as the platform evolved. New exhaust manifolding and a revised camshaft pushed the power to 450 HP, and its limited-slip differential with 3.07 gears made the 200 MPH number on the speedometer a serious possibility for the courageous. Handling could be adapted to conditions, thanks to adjustable gas shocks with stabilizer bars. This Viper’s body is finished in red, and its sale will include both the factory soft top and detachable, color-coded, custom hardtop and associated detachable rear window. Inside is an executive business cockpit design with luxuries that include air conditioning, tinted glass, the Kenwood face-off stereo with 200-watt amplifiers, power windows and locks, and an improved air bag system. However, add in that factory 200 MPH speedometer, adjustable pedals, an adjustable leather-wrapped steering wheel and gauges centered in the dash, and this was obviously not just a toy for junior to cruise down Main Street in—uphill on Mulholland Drive at midnight might be more inviting. At any rate, the factory 18-inch polished alloy wheels and Toyo tires are the fitting finale to the package. While the Viper has now entered the annals of automotive history, the legend can live on with a car like this one. https://www.mecum.com/lots/520438/1999-dodge-viper-rt-10-roadster/
