The Willys Corporation spent World War II building trucks and Jeeps for the military, but once hostilities ended, they wanted get in on the huge, pent-up civilian demand for new vehicles. Lacking sufficient resources to develop a passenger car, they decided instead to expand and update the wartime Jeep into a range of larger, more versatile vehicles. Willys sold more than 19,000 Jeepsters during the car’s 1948-1951 production run. Not huge numbers, but enough to make the company some money and put it back on the public map.

This 1949 Jeepster is a well-sorted example that would be a welcome addition at most car shows and events. It is a fully restored long term California car and is finished in an attractive color combination of green with yellow over tan interior. The four-cylinder flathead is mated to a three-speed manual transmission and many spare parts are included with the sale, including a new old stock factory heater.
