This 1963 Volkswagen Transporter Single Cab with the back-saving folding hinge gates on all three sides of the bed was one of the last sold in America ahead of the 1964 Chicken Tax. The U.S. tariff was levied on European goods, such as light trucks, and it effectively thwarted stateside Volkswagen commercial pickup and panel van imports. Far fewer transporters made it over to the U.S. than the famously popular Type II VW Bus. The rare and practical pickup here was professionally restored in a beautiful Dark Blue paint, new chrome trim, new headliner, new door panels and an upholstered bench seat. A 1600cc engine gives this 1963 Volkswagen Transporter Single Cab the horsepower needed to transport anywhere.
