Matching-numbers Karmann Ghia. This is a one-year-only model Ghia that was manufactured on May 23, 1960 and brought to the U.S. on May 28, 1960. It took over a year to complete a full body-off restoration from top to bottom with a few upgrades. This complete Karmann Ghia is the best of both worlds: modern and original. Matching-numbers body and frame, running motor included for value and nostalgia but installed a brand-new, not rebuilt, large 2056cc 4-cylinder engine. The engine has a bubble top case and all the engine parts are brand new, not rebuilt. Converted from 6-volt to 12-volt system. It has the original switches, original wiper motor, doors, decklid and hood.

Th engine is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission featuring a new clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. For some added fun, new dual 44 Weber carburetors and a Sidewinder exhaust were installed. Completely rewired. Fresh two-tone paint taken down to bare metal. No accidents, nose never damaged and no rust. All new custom two-tone vinyl interior from top to bottom, including new carpet. Installed real whitewall tires by Coker. Replaced all the rubber seals inside and out. Includes new shocks, replaced the brake master cylinder, new brake lines, brake switch and new brakes. Also replaced with all new lights. New chrome inside and out.

Restored the gas tank, installed new horns, new starter, rebuilt the wiper motor. Installed brand new door hinges and new door striker plates. All cables have been replaced, along with all-new fuel lines. Included is the original. Upgraded the front drum brakes to disc brakes. For a sleek look and reliability, decklid struts were added instead of the old hinges. Super fun to drive, with the option to have modern features and the original motor. This one-year-only model, matching-numbers, original keys, no-rust, no-accident, fully restored 1960 Karmann Ghia is a great find.
