The Triumph TR7 was launched in 1975 as the successor to the TR6 and to continue the TR bloodline. When the TR7 was introduced, it was only available as a fixedhead coupé. It was not until 1979, with the long awaited arrival of the convertible, that there was more than one body style to choose from. Finished in Cashmere Gold with matching tan interior, this example is offered with a remarkably low odometer reading of just a little over 2,100 miles from new. We are informed it was purchased new in 1981 by a wealthy owner, it was housed in a large collection on the Orkney Isles in what is described as a purpose-built barn made for the vehicles he had amassed.

The first owner passed away in 2005 and the vehicles were all passed to members of the family, this one to his nephew accrediting for the second owner. At this stage the car had covered nominal miles, it transported to Perth where the current vendor lived at the time and he had the car recommissioned in early 2006 and MoT’d, whereby the mileage was recorded at 1,160 miles. The nephew then used the car for 300 miles more before selling to the third owner, Mr. Cash, in July 2006 from whom this information has been sourced and is detailed in an accompanying letter.

Our vendor no stranger to TR7 who’s brother was Tony Pond famed for driving a V8 TR7 for British Layland between 1976 until 1978 purchased the car in August of 2007 and has since kept the car SORN and stored away in his weatherproof garage before more recently recommissioning the car ready for sale. Offered with invoices from both 2006 and this spring, V5C registration documents, old MoT test certificates and an original owner’s manual and sales brochure, this car is today reflective of a car with so few miles and thus very much a collector example coming from good rally stock, sure to be popular amongst Triumph collectors and British sports car collectors alike.
