The Toyota Tacoma was introduced in 1995 as a compact pickup and brought about several improvements over the outgoing Toyota Pickup. Designed and engineered to deliver a quieter cabin, improved ride quality and a higher degree of safety, the Tacoma has proven an immensely popular vehicle around the world, but especially in the United States, so much so that it claimed Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year in 2005, the first model year for the new second-generation Toyota Tacoma, which was now classified as a midsize pickup. Currently in its third generation, this particular Tacoma happens to be the 1-millionth Tacoma Pickup produced.
A top-of-the-line TRD Pro, this Tacoma is powered by the 3.5L/278 HP DOHC V-6 engine with a factory-installed TRD cat-back exhaust system and 6-speed automatic transmission with the 4wDemand part-time 4-wheel drive system. With the body finished in Army Green, the appearance package includes contrasting black features such as the unique grille, wheel-arch fender flares, hood scoop insert, 16-inch TRD Pro alloy wheels and a number of other exterior details. Various unique styling elements mark the TRD Pro over others, most obviously the heritage-styled grille lettering spelling out “TOYOTA” rather than the oval Toyota logo.
The interior is upholstered in black leather with red contrast stitching and is packed with technology and power accessories such as Apple CarPlay, Android Audio, dual climate control, a power tilt/slide moonroof with sliding sunshade, steering wheel controls, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat and more. Having covered a mere 8 miles from new, it was built at Toyota’s San Antonio complex and was completed October 4, 2019. Accompanied by a letter of congratulations from Toyota, this 2020 Toyota Tacoma might be one of roughly 40,000 Tacomas per year, but it will forever be the only to claim the title as the 1-millionth Tacoma built.
