In the realm of Japanese sports cars, few can touch the undeniable reputation of the Toyota Supra. Introduced in 1978 as the A40/A50 generation, the Supra’s popularity truly took off with the fourth generation, the A80, following its inclusion in the “Fast & Furious” franchise. Since then, numerous video game and movie appearances have cemented the Mark IV Supra’s spot in the JDM legend pantheon, with skyrocketing prices to match. The legendary NA 2JZ-GE and twin-turbocharged 2JZ-GTE engines have become legends in their own right, known for their near-infinite tuning potential and ability to withstand ludicrous amounts of power.
While it wasn’t the first turbocharged Supra, the A80’s twin turbochargers operated in sequential mode instead of parallel, resulting in boost and better torque as early as 1,800 RPM. This particular 1998 Toyota Supra, finished in Super White over a black leather bucket seat interior, is the cream of the crop among its kind. It is a bastion of originality, with just 6,080 miles on the odometer and a Targa “sport roof” panel that was purportedly never taken off. It’s equipped with the 3.0L twin-turbocharged 2JZ-GTE inline-6-cylinder engine, as well as the coveted 6-speed manual transmission.
