Introduced in 1989, the fifth generation of Hilux continued the model's dependable reputation for reliability and durability. This 1997 single-cab example was in the final year of production for the fifth generation cars, showing just 89,455 miles and benefiting from a fresh MOT valid until 01/07/2026. Power comes from Toyota’s 2,446cc inline four-cylinder diesel with 89bhp and 123lb/ft of torque, linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox and selectable four-wheel drive, a combination renowned for durability, reliability and ease of maintenance.
Finished in an attractive deep blue/green colour over a standard grey cloth interior, this Hilux has reportedly benefited from an older, light restoration some years ago and whilst there isn’t paperwork to back this up, the newer and different truck bed shows work has been undertaken. Simple, tough and over-engineered running gear, the heroic Hilux was built to endure high mileage and hard work and this one certainly has plenty of life left in it.
