An achingly cool genuine Black Badge with full Rolls-Royce service history, presented in a dark grey £5,000 wrap over its PPF'd original Diamond Black. Created as the boldest expression of Rolls-Royce's modern design language, the Wraith Black Badge isn’t just a darker styling package, it’s the technical, mechanical and aesthetic evolution of the Wraith for the more driver-focussed audience. With more torque, sharper dynamics and sinister looking blacked-out detailing throughout, the Black Badge is a commanding presence making one of the most capable Grand Tourers ever made.
This 2017 example has covered a whisper over 31,000 miles from new in the hands of its three owners with our vendor purchasing the car in 2020. Just like the rest of their esteemed Collection, it presents fabulously well and comes with a full Rolls-Royce service history. Our vendor's Collection is exclusively dark grey and while this Black Badge left the factory in Diamond Black, it benefits from a meticulously well installed dark grey wrap that cost over £5,000, wrapped over a full body Paint Protection Film (PPF) to ensure the underlying paintwork remains in fabulous order.
This means that should the next owner wish to return the car to standard, the grey finish can be easily removed to reveal the original black paintwork beneath. Mechanically, the Black Badge retains the same 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V12 as the standard Wraith, but with torque increased from 800Nm to 870Nm, giving it noticeably more urge. The 8-speed ZF transmission was recalibrated for quicker shifts and sharper throttle response, while the suspension is stiffened, improving handling and steering feel without compromising ride quality.
Visually, the Black Badge features high gloss black chrome detailing on the Spirit of Ecstasy, grille, exhaust tips and window surrounds, along with 21" carbon composite wheels unique to the model. Inside, Technical Fibre trim, dark chrome switchgear and contrast-stitched leather set the tone, complemented here by the spectacular Starlight Headliner, a signature Rolls-Royce feature. As expected of a Black Badge, this example includes the gloss black Spirit of Ecstasy, black Shadow Line detailing, exclusive carbon composite wheels and factory Black Badge treadplates.
The interior is equally well appointed, with the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Audio system, full natural grain leather, contrast stitching, embroidered RR monograms, lambswool overmats and extended leather dashboard and trim. High end options also include Night Vision with person recognition, Driver Assistance Package III, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive LED headlights, Top View camera, Head-Up Display and climate-controlled front seats. Multimedia features such as DAB, TV function, navigation, Bluetooth and Apps are all present. In short, this is an extraordinary example of one of Rolls-Royce’s most dynamic modern offerings.
