The 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo Executive is the ultimate getaway car. Roomy, fast and comfortable, this four-door wonder handles like it is on rails. The Executive edition of the Panamera features a wheelbase that has been extended by 5.9 inches, providing a cavernous rear seating area large enough to seat two NBA-sized passengers in comfort and style. The rear cabin features heated, multi-way and adjustable seats, a panoramic sunroof, retractable rear sun shade, its own zone climate control, touchscreen and soft-close doors.
Although the Executive edition weighs 200 more pounds than the standard wheelbase Panamera, the additional girth and length have not affected the stupendous performance of this machine with a factory-rated top speed of 190 MPH, a 0-60 MPH time of 3.5 seconds and a quarter-mile run topping at 121 MPH in 11.6 seconds. That’s some scintillating performance for a car of this size. This generous supply of power is provided by a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that produces 550 HP and 567 lb-ft of torque while connected to an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission.
The handling is equally impressive with all-wheel-drive, Porsche Active Suspension Management, active roll bars and Porsche’s Integrated 4D chassis-control system making the car go where it’s pointed. The contact patch is provided by massive 35-series tires mounted on 21-inch Sport Design wheels painted in Satin Platinum, a $3,920 option. The Chalk exterior is a striking, $3,310 option that very much approximates the old Stone Gray hue from the Porsche 356 color palette. The light exterior stands in contrast to the black full-leather interior.
It seems ironic that so much attention has been lavished on the rear passengers on the Executive line of the Panamera when those in the know understand that the real fun begins when one slides in behind the steering wheel of this machine.
