This 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort is one of 292 examples made for the model year. It is powered by the original sequential twin-turbocharged 2.85-liter flat-6 engine, rated by Porsche for 444hp and 369 ft/lbs of torque, paired with its matching 6-speed manual transmission featuring the Gelande (terrain) gear and sending power to all four wheels. The all-wheel-drive system can be adjusted to suit different terrains and send up to 80% of power to the rear wheels. The 959 was developed from Porsche's experience in motorsports and resulted in one of the fastest cars in the world, achieving 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 197 miles per hour.
The Porsche 959 was also the first car to feature active suspension, which automatically adjusts the ride height and damping to optimize performance. Bruce Canepa imported this example from Japan in August 2012, where the car was gone through and detailed to Zuffenhausen factory condition, documented and sold. This 959 was later damaged in the front during transportation in an enclosed trailer but remained running. Under new ownership, this car was professionally and comprehensively repaired and restored by SV Automotive Engineering in Southern California, which specializes in Porsche restorations and Resto-Mods.
The restoration was completed in 2024, which saw the car completely disassembled with the drivetrain removed to service every aspect of the car, and then it was professionally repainted in its factory-correct Silver Metallic. The burgundy leather interior is all-original and the condition is reflected. The sale includes a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. 4,023 miles (title reads exempt).
