Introduced at the 2010 Geneva Auto Salon, the Porsche 918 Spyder set new standards in hybrid performance, aerodynamics and lightweight engineering. Its pioneering hybrid powertrain is a marvel of Porsche engineering, integrating a mid-mounted 4.6L DOHC V-8 engine with flat-plane crankshaft, titanium connecting rods, dry-sump lubrication and Inconel exhaust uprights with a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transaxle with hydraulic rear differential lock and front and rear electric motors with parallel full hybrid assist.
