Radical barely begins to describe this sliced and diced 1940 Pontiac Custom Coupe, which wears a slick coat of Kandy Tangelo paint and features a long list of custom tricks inside and out. Pernell Spohn Customs was originally responsible for the extensive build completed in June 2021, which features wild body modifications that totally change the proportions of the pre-World War II body. It features a chopped top, and the body has been sectioned 8 inches, lengthened 4 inches and widened 11 inches. The fabrication work was intense, and it’s covered in House of Kolor Kandy Tangelo candy paint.
Inside is a tan leather interior with modern bucket seats and a custom metal-fabricated dash and console, which is painted to match the orange exterior. Dual-zone heating and air conditioning system controls add to cabin comfort, while a touch-screen display radio is mounted in the center console, providing an additional cruising soundtrack for when the sound of the engine just isn’t enough. The wildly customized coupe uses a custom-built frame with C6 Corvette independent front and rear suspension with coilover shocks and Z06 Corvette brakes with drilled and slotted rotors and painted calipers.
Additional late-model Corvette components consist of a 6L80E 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift capability and the LS2 6.0L engine. Starting with more than 400 HP, the LS2 now has a 4.0L Whipple supercharger, giving the combination outrageous acceleration. Custom engine covers offer the true custom look. The car is finished off with a set of glossy black, five-spoke, aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone ultrahigh-performance tires sized at 275/35R18 front and 345/35R19 rear for a wild stance to complement the car’s insane proportions.
