Impossible to ignore, this custom Lemans is presented in Voodoo Blue Pearl with silver and red air-brushed graphics. A unique blend of classic and modern, the Lemans is now powered by a 550 HP LS3 V-8 engine with Thumper camshaft, and a Magnaflow exhaust uses a Hooker electric cutout exhaust controller to custom tailor the sound from within. A 4L70E automatic transmission with overdrive transfers the power to the narrowed Ford 9-inch Moser rear end. The chassis features a Roadster Shop Revo suspension and Aldan coilover shocks and Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes with a Hydratech booster and cross-drilled and slotted rotors.
The wheels are a completely custom made, one-off design and are wrapped in low-profile tires to provide optimal grip. The radical styling is furthered with a large array of details ranging from large to small, such as a custom hood with scoops, specialized ground effects complete with a rear diffuser, a custom grille, LED headlights and tail lights, Ring Brothers handles and mirrors, Grote Red and Blue underbody lights, molded-in LED marker lights and Ram Air headlight intake. The interior is just as well addressed as the exterior with Dakota Digital gauges, air conditioning, power windows, power locks, tinted glass, a floating console, bucket seats, a 4,000-Watt Sony audio system and more.
The scene beneath the hood is just as radical as the rest of the car with an infinite number of special details and custom polished items including a radiator with dual cooling fans, customized hood stainless trim panels and more. A Flaming River steering column and a custom paneled and upholstered trunk round out the Lemans. By 1967, Pontiac was doing very well in the sales war against giants like Ford and Chevrolet, often coming in at No. 3 in overall sales.
The Lemans was a huge part of that success, bringing people the chance to have a well-equipped car that could largely be built by the customer with everything from inline 6-cylinder efficiency to V-8 performance and bucket-seat style to sophisticated luxury. Interestingly, the Lemans could easily be a personal luxury coupe, something to compete with the likes of Riviera and Thunderbird, or even its own in-house sibling, the Grand Prix.
