THE MOTORCAR OFFERED
This particular Packard 110 woody was purchased new by a Mr. Kenneth Merrill. Mr. Merrill was one of the proprietors of Merrill & Stevens Yacht Company in Jacksonville, Florida—a company that continues to this day.
In 1947 while still owned by Mr. Merrill, the car was involved in an accident. At this time Mr. Merrill chose to have his shipyard rebuild the wagon. Rather then redo the bodywork in the original ash he decided to have his more than capable employees rebuild the body in solid teak.
The wagon passed to its next known owner in 1968, a Mr. Jim Magyars of Lake Wales, Florida. It remained in storage for the next 23 years. In 1991 it was acquired by Mr. Steve Dana. Mr. Dana made up for the Packard's 23-year slumber and drove it extensively, even completing a 1,500-mile trip from Vermont to Ocala, Florida in two days. He also did extensive maintenance work during this time, including rebuilding the drivetrain and overdrive, repainting the car, and revarnishing the wood.
The Packard remained in Mr. Dana ownership through to his passing. Today the car presents very well after over 30 years in caring ownership. The gold paintwork presents well, and the teak wood shows beautifully. A fantastic car for weekend trips to the farmers market, seashore, or an excellent weekend or AACA touring car.
