This 2003 Nissan 350Z is one of the first 200 examples offered for sale in the United States in 2003 and sports a mere 199 original miles on the odometer, presenting beautifully with its black paint and matching interior. The first-generation of the “Z” was the 1970 Datsun 240Z—a car that revolutionized the sports-car market with its advanced engineering, epic styling and value-driven pricing. It forever changed the perception of the Japanese sports car, giving them the status and praise that have never been bestowed upon a car from the land of the rising sun.
Its performance matched its stunning good looks and the 240Z—prepared by the famous Pete Brock and driven by the wickedly fast John Morton—took the SCCA “C Production” national championships in both 1970 and 1971. Subsequent models of the “Z” cars proved popular, but they grew heavier and moved away from the purity of the original ideal. In 2003, Nissan introduced its fifth generation of the model, this time known as the 350Z. This was a machine that adhered to the same ethos of performance substance and style as its forefather. The two-place fastback coupe has an organic shape with an exceedingly low coefficient of drag.
The engine—although based on Nissan’s ubiquitous V-6 that powers much of its other product-line offerings—is an impressive piece of engineering with dual overhead cams for each cylinder bank and four valves per cylinder netting a total output of 287 HP. The engine sits far behind the center-line of the front wheels, making this essentially a front-mid-engine car with optimal front-to-rear weight distribution. It has independent multi-link front and rear suspension and 4-wheel disc brakes. This machine comes with keys, books and the original window sticker.
With incredibly low mileage and a nearly new look, this is likely one of the finest 2003 Nissan 350Zs that will be available anytime soon.
