Presented in white with a black interior, this 1954 Morgan Plus 4 roadster is powered by a 1991cc OHV inline 4-cylinder engine fed by twin SU carburetors and backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Featuring dual rear-mounted spare tires and a leather hood hold-down strap, the front is fitted with a chrome bumper adorned with guards while the rear end is fitted with just the chrome guards. The seat is upholstered in leather and a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel frames a walnut dashboard fitted with ivory-colored gauges and switchgear. Rolling on blackwall tires with chrome spinner wire wheels, the overall look is spectacular.
After World War II, Morgan re-introduced its 4/4, later replacing it with the sportier and more powerful Plus 4. Introduced at the 1950 Earl’s Court Motor Show, the new Plus 4 used a few modified parts from the 4/4 and brought about hydraulic brakes for the first time on a Morgan. In 1953, Morgan offered a new, optional 1991cc/90 HP engine, which improved performance. While Morgan has long offered a fairly lengthy list of models, the Plus 4 is often cited as the most well-known. With a rich history in motorsports, dating back to the days HFS Morgan himself drove the prototype 4/4 in December of 1935, Morgans have competed in a number of events, including Le Mans.
Often cited as one of the purest driving experiences one can have, Morgan automobiles have romanced a number of enthusiasts to become Morgan purists.
