The last ever customer-delivered Aero 8, offered directly from its first and only owner. Delivery mileage, very well specified and over £115,000 when new. An important piece of Morgan’s history. One of the most innovative models in Morgan’s history, the Aero 8 made its debut in 2000, gaining a loyal following of enthusiasts enticed by its distinctive styling, personality and performance. The Aero 8 was to evolve over the years and at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015, Morgan announced that the Morgan Aero 8 would be revived with a Series 5 model.
The Series 5 reintroduced a soft top to the Aero range but still utilised the same BMW 4.8-litre V8 engine (providing 367bhp/490Nm of torque) and manual or automatic gearbox. This was completed by the new design lead, Jonathan Wells, with the intention of bringing a fresh theme to the model with more modern materials. New interior finishes with a change to the dashboard and infotainment continued to update the experience. The car retained the front design of the Aero models, however the rear was more akin to the boat tail of the Supersports and the revised rear design permitted it to have a fabric roof that can be stored in the rear parcel slot, giving the car a flat rear deck profile.
The Series 5 also had completely new front and rear suspension, with anti-roll bars and outboard conventional wishbones with coil-over units. Additional structural elements replacing the inboard suspension units gave added chassis stiffness. We understand that just 160 Series 5 Aero 8s were produced between 2016 and 2018 and we are delighted to offer the final customer-delivered car, #SA9EAA8MTHE004124, to the open market having been with that same owner since new.
An accompanying letter in the history file, dated 8th June 2018, from the Managing Director of Morgan Motor Company Manufacturing Ltd. to the owner of this car confirms that, 'With reference to the Aero 8 Chassis Number #SA9EAA8MTHE004124, I want to inform you that this vehicle is the last Aero to leave the factory, barring a Works vehicle that has been manufactured to remain as part of our Collection'. This UK-supplied, right-hand drive, 6-speed, manual transmission Aero 8 has covered a remarkable 146 miles from new, at the time of cataloguing, having gone into storage upon delivery and it hasn’t been used since as the buyer/our vendor moved to Spain.
The specification is truly impressive, indeed the owner paid over £115,000 for the car and there is a sales invoice detailing this in the history file. The selected options are listed below: 6-speed transmission, 19" Aero 8 wheels, Aero Racing Performance Pack 1, extreme waterproof leather. Exclusive Premiere Metallic Blue/Green paint, extra paint protective film, black wing and splitter cooling vent mesh, black Union-Jack bonnet badges, bonnet louvres.
Wooden dashboard, Ash wood laminate tunnel top, diamond quilted leather seat centres and door panels, part box-weave carpet trim, heated seats, sun visors, headrest premier logo blue/green, contrast stitching, horizontal pleated stitch, colour logo on dash. Air-conditioning, ambient lighting kit, premium Parrot SatNav with four speakers. The car was supplied with an illustrated hardback book documenting the its build and a welcome pack and DVD.
Presenting, as you would expect, for what is essentially a new car, 'go find another' is perhaps an often overused expression but in this case, we think it very much applies as this is an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a significant piece of Morgan history, being the last customer-delivered Aero 8 with delivery mileage and a fantastic specification.
