The 2015 McLaren 650S Spider is a world-class supercar, its moniker derived from its ferocious 3.8L twin-turbocharged V-8 engine capable of 650 HP. As if that alone isn’t enough, the example offered here is a heavily optioned car packed full of $60,000 worth of “extras” that include the carbon-fiber exterior upgrade package, sport exhaust, special paint, carbon-fiber mirror casings, light-weight forged wheels, carbon-fiber interior package, IRIS upgrade with satellite navigation and more. The legacy of the McLaren brand is steeped in numerous Formula 1 Constructors Championships and record-shattering road cars.
This 650S is the spiritual successor to the McLaren F1, the legendary road car designed by Gordon Murray that was built from 1992-96, and to this day it remains one of the fastest normally aspirated mid-engine exotic sports cars ever produced. In 1995, a slightly modified McLaren F1 road car competed in the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans where it took first overall, convincingly defeating purpose-built prototype race cars and earning it a coveted spot in the annals of motorsports. The McLaren 650S has its engine placement amidships in a carbon-fiber monocoque, the same material architecture and construction as its legendary progenitor McLaren F1.
With a curb weight of just 3,100 pounds, the favorable power-to-weight ratio of the McLaren 650S enables a top speed of more than 200 MPH. The McLaren 650S not only offers serious performance and handling, but it also provides an exceedingly high level of creature comfort. The folding hardtop is electronically activated and can be raised or lowered in just 17 seconds, giving its pilot the choice of either open-air or closed motoring. The dihedral doors allow easy ingress and egress within confined spaces.
This 2015 McLaren 650S Spider is elegantly presented in its Elite Pearl White exterior accented with stealth-finish forged wheels, and its black Alcantara interior is highlighted with scroll accents color-keyed to match its yellow brake calipers.
