Maybach Motorenbau was a manufacturer founded in 1909 by Wilhelm Maybach and his son; in 1960 Maybach was acquired by Daimler-Benz and still remains as a luxury brand of Mercedes-Benz. Daimler produced an ultra-luxury edition of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class under the Maybach brand thus creating an even more magnificent vehicle and offering unrivalled luxury and specification. To promote the new Maybach line, Mercedes-Benz engaged figures such as Maybach heir, Ulrich Schmid-Maybach together with golfer Nick Faldo to serve as brand ambassadors.
When commissioning a vehicle, Maybach would, upon request, offer a huge array of standard and non-standard specification; as long as it was safe, practical and ethical, it could be supplied. The last Maybach vehicle was manufactured in December 2012 although Mercedes-Benz have recently re-instated the name on the high end S-Class which is known as a Mercedes Maybach.
This Maybach 62 was originally registered on 24th October 2003 and presents in virtually unmarked order throughout. The two-tone coachwork is both stylish and eye-catching and the black interior - where leather and alcantara are in plentiful supply - offers everything and more you would expect from such a luxury marque. The list of extras in this extra-ordinary vehicle is comprehensive; some of the more notable ones being the panoramic sliding sunroof, refrigerator in rear armrest, electric rear seats and power door closers to the rear.
Standard features include fully reclining and massaging chairs, silver service champagne set with cooled cup holders and a full entertainment system with wireless headphones. To travel in a Maybach either as a driver or passenger is akin to being in a first class lounge on wheels and it is no surprise that this 62 model attracts ownership from billionaires and celebrities such as Roman Abramovich, Simon Cowell, Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis from Dragons Den.
