Formerly owned by superstar basketball player Kevin 'KD' Durant of the Oklahoma Thunder (formerly Seattle SuperSonics), Golden State Warriors, and currently the Brooklyn Nets, this 2008 Maybach 57S, with a $408,000 MSRP, was a fitting way for KD to celebrate his 2007-08 Rookie of the Year award. However, due to the 2008-11 financial crisis, Maybach was placed on hiatus but revived in November 2014 as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class sub-brand. Assembly of the modern Maybach is conducted at the renowned Sindelfingen production facilities in Germany, where elite Mercedes-Benz models have been largely hand-built since the prewar era.
